How MSSPs Can Elevate Efficiency and Security

Secureworks Elevates MSSP Blog_4-3-xl

As Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) navigate the increasingly complex cybersecurity landscape, the need for advanced tools that streamline operations and enhance security capabilities has never been greater. MSSPs are grappling with the rapid evolution of cyber threats, which requires constant vigilance and the ability to adapt and respond to new types of attacks swiftly. Additionally, MSSPs must contend with a shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, which can strain resources and limit the capacity to manage a growing customer base effectively.

Recognizing these challenges, Secureworks® has made significant enhancements to our Taegis™ XDR platform, specifically tailored to empower MSSP partners. These improvements are designed to provide MSSPs with a more integrated and automated approach to threat detection and response, reducing the need for manual intervention and allowing for more efficient allocation of human resources.

Challenges Faced by MSSPs

MSSPs are on the front lines of the cybersecurity battlefield, facing an ever-changing threat landscape.

As cybercriminals become more sophisticated, leveraging advanced technologies to craft and execute their attacks, MSSPs must continually evolve their strategies and tools to stay ahead.

This rapid evolution of cyber threats means that security measures that were effective yesterday may be obsolete today. The ability to respond to new types of attacks swiftly is not just a competitive advantage but a necessity for survival in the industry. This relentless pace can put a strain on even the most robust security infrastructures and the teams that manage them.

Compounding this challenge is the acute shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals. This talent gap can significantly strain resources, as there are simply not enough qualified individuals to fill the roles required. Furthermore, the need to train and retain these professionals adds additional layers of complexity and expense. As a result, MSSPs may find themselves in a position where they must do more with less, stretching their existing workforce thin. This shortage can lead to longer response times, and ultimately, a higher risk of breaches for their clients. To mitigate these challenges, MSSPs are increasingly turning to automation and advanced analytics to augment their human workforce, but the balance between technology and skilled personnel remains a critical and ongoing concern.

How Secureworks is Addressing These Challenges

Secureworks has made important enhancements to our Taegis platform to address the challenges, not only helping MSSPs scale their services but also enabling them to provide superior security to their customers. The improvements are a testament to Secureworks commitment to helping MSSPs stand out in a crowded marketplace. Keep reading to learn more about our recent releases and enhancements and how they benefit Secureworks MSSP partners.

  1. Better Threat Prevention & Response with Taegis NDR

One of the standout recent releases is Taegis NDR. This solution blocks 99%* of malicious activity on the network, effectively preventing, detecting, and responding to threats. The solution is managed centrally in the Taegis platform and is continuously updated with curated countermeasures based on global, real-world threat intelligence. This ensures that customer networks are safeguarded against the latest attack vectors, providing MSSPs with a streamlined and cost-effective approach to reducing cyber risk.null

  2. Improved Efficiency & Accuracy with AI Capabilities

Another innovation is the introduction of AI-assisted workflows. These features leverage generative AI to quickly explain complex information that often consumes a significant amount of MSSP analysts' time. Understanding detection logic, for example, involves complex algorithms and methodologies that require a deep understanding of different types of cybersecurity threats and how to identify them. Whether it's detection logic, command lines, alert analysis, or the script block in an alert, AI helps analysts interpret complex data faster, reducing the likelihood of overlooking or misinterpreting a real threat. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for junior analysts, who can now manage the deluge of alerts more effectively from their growing customer bases. MSSP partners can trial these features now in Preview mode.null

  3. Scaled Services with Multi-Tenancy Capabilities

Secureworks is also introducing features that give MSSPs more control over their operations. Our upcoming next-gen tenant and partner management features improve and consolidate the tenant management experience in Taegis XDR. Partners can configure which features are available to their child tenants, allowing for tailored service offerings. And in addition to the multi-tenant alert view, the new multi-tenant investigation view enables MSSPs to manage investigations across their customer base from a single parent-tenant view, streamlining the process and improving efficiency. Furthermore, the new MSSP alert triage queue feature enables partners to triage alerts across multiple tenants. This eliminates the need for external tools or manual assessment of individual tenants to find alerts to be reviewed, simplifying the triage process across multiple tenants.

  4. Advanced Detection with Tactic Graphs™

MSSP Tactic Graphs allow partners to create Tactic Graph Detector rules that are applied across tenants, differentiating their detection capabilities with Taegis. Tactic Graphs provide the data and insights to help analysts quickly identify complex attacks that have multiple, disparate, and subtle moving parts. Tactic Graphs work by mapping a threat actor tactic to a collective set of conditions across IT assets — thereby converting all the telemetry and alerts associated with that set of conditions into a single, readily interpreted alert.

As cyber threats continue to evolve, these Secureworks advancements ensure that MSSPs are well-equipped to meet challenges head-on, solidifying their position as trusted security partners. With these improvements, MSSPs can deliver more value, reduce complexity for their customers, and reinforce their commitment to excellence in cybersecurity.
