Key Responsibilities

• Configuring and administering firewall and Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS)
• Strong level of understanding/competency with network hardware technologies, especially Checkpoint, Checkpoint with Nokia appliances, Cisco PIX, Cisco ASA, Cisco Routers. Familiarity with Juniper considered a plus.
• IDS duties include applying signature and software updates and performing device configuration on Snort, SourceFire, Cisco, TippingPoint and ISS systems.
• Provide SecureWorks clients with security architecture recommendations and assist with planning and implementation of long term projects.
• Knowledge of Quality of Service (QoS), IPSec, GRE tunnels, multi-casting and traffic balancing techniques will be essential.
• Requires an in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP and communication protocols in LAN / MAN / WAN deployments.
• The ability to troubleshoot complex multi-vendor network service provider issues in the WAN while working with multiple geographically dispersed client and vendor teams to identify and eliminate network configuration issues.
• Review technical specifications from clients and vendors to confirm adequacy, accuracy and functionality of proposed solutions. In addition, write RFI and RFP documents with the end goal of designing, building and maintaining firewalls for client networks
• Experience in the deployment and maintenance of enterprise network routing architectures using protocols such as OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, and RIP.
• Develop and write recommendations for departmental policies, procedures, technical standards and guidelines. Develop and write infrastructure system documentation standards for deployment and ongoing maintenance.

• Understanding of basic network services, vulnerabilities and attacks, as well as ways to mitigate vulnerabilities

Education and Experience

• 3-5 years experience with one or more of the preferred firewall platforms, Check Point CCSE, Juniper Networks JNCIS-FWV or Cisco CCSP or GIAC GCFW preferred
• Combined experience in network engineering, network administration, systems programming, systems design, or related technical specialties
• Direct networking infrastructure engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer/Electrical Engineering
• or Computer Science
• Experience / Knowledge of Cisco NIDS devices
• Experience / Knowledge of Cisco Security Agents
• Experience / Knowledge of Cisco Pix
• Experience / Knowledge of SourceFire NIDS or Snort IDS.
• Linux, TCP/IP, UNIX, NT, IP Routing
• Remote operations experience preferred
• Knowledge of Nessus preferred
• Experience with application scanning software (Okena, Snort, Sniffer, Fluke) a plus

 Certifications Desired

• CCNA Certification a plus
• CCSP Certification a plus
• CSPFA Certification a plus
• Experience with VPN, SSL, other encryption methodology / technology a plus
• GIAC, GCIA, GCIH, GCFW, GHTQ, GSEC or similar certifications desirable.
